Misoprostol for the Prevention and Treatment of Post-Partum Haemorrhage from Clinical Evidence to Operational Realities

Post-partum haemorrhage (PPH) is the leading single direct cause of maternal mortality worldwide. This panel will present recent evidence on the use of misoprostol, a prostaglandin E1 analogue, for the prevention and treatment of PPH and discuss programmatic implications at all levels, but particularly lower level settings and where oxytocin, the gold standard uterotonic, may be neither available nor feasible.
